Celebrating CRAFT Conversations

Reading for CRAFT has been an invitation into individual author stories sent from around the world and marked by their individual author journeys retold through career choices, awards, genre explorations, unique publications, and always the hope I share with those authors, a new, next opportunity.
My application to read for CRAFT was one such new, next opportunity, and one defined by increased confidence in my editor voice. To read multiple times, sifting through phrases and ideas so that my evaluative lens is defined by craft elements, to calibrate with others’ reactions and analysis of a shared text, to build my editing skills to align with style and author voice, to express my observations effectively towards fellow editors and authors as we pursue publication of engaging and accessible pieces—each of these is valuable on its own. During my time at CRAFT, I learned how much more powerful that learning can be in conversation.
This June marked one year as an editorial assistant for Craft Essay/Interview section. To celebrate, I am sharing each conversation I had the opportunity to support.
